The title of the first Miffy book was “nijntje”. It was released in 1955, not in the square format we know today, but in a rectangular format. Several other books were also published in this format, including “the apple” (1953), “toto in volendam” (1955), “miffy at the zoo” (1955), “the small king” (1957), “tijs” (1957) and “the car” (1957). Dick Bruna later reissued some of these books in the new, square format. From 1963 onwards, all Miffy books were published in square format.
